Recognized by TIME Magazine as the "reigning intellectual of the evangelical movement in the U.S.,"(2003) Dr. Albert Mohler analyzes the Christian perspective of atheism's recent popularity in his new book, Atheism Remix, scheduled for release in July.

Atheism Remix provides the Christian response to the movement's four leading thinkers, who Mohler refers to as "The Four Horsemen of the new atheist apocalypse (Page 29)" - Richard Dawkins (The God Delusion), Daniel Dennett (Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon), Sam Harris (The End of Faith: Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason) and Christopher Hitchens (god is not Great).

Dr. Mohler identifies eight characteristics that set New Atheism apart from older forms and its new challenges to Christian belief, including:

INTOLLERANCE
"The sixth distinction of the New Atheism is the attack on toleration. . . . Thus Sam Harris, more pointedly than the others, says that the time has come to rid ourselves of religious toleration, for it is an experiment that has become too expensive." (Page 53)

HUMAN FREEDOM
"The New Atheists argue that religion itself must be eliminated in order to preserve human freedom. In their view, humanity can never be free if the authority of God and church are not overturned." (Page 54)

With atheism's rapid growth and New Atheism's "evangelistic intent," Dr. Mohler equips Christians to combat the dogma head-on:

"The Christian church must respond to the challenge of New Atheism with the full measure of conviction. We are reminded that the church has faced a constellation of theological challenges throughout its history. Then, as now, the task is to articulate, communicate and defend the Christian faith with intellectual integrity and evangelistic urgency." (Page 96)

Published by Crossway Books & Bibles and scheduled for release in July 2008, Atheism Remix outlines the history of atheism, the development of the New Atheism movement and the Christian response.

The ninth president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world, Dr. Mohler is frequently tapped for his insight and expertise on religious issues and culture by such media outlets as NBC, CNN, The New York Times and USA Today.
