About Dr. Dwayne Mercer
Dr. Dwayne Mercer is a native of Georgia. He and his wife have three children and have served First Baptist Church of Oviedo since 1993. Over the years the church has grown from 650 to 3,000 in worship attendance, and there have been 2,874 baptisms. More than 800 have journeyed on short-term mission trips, and First Baptist has partnered with more than 25 different missionaries - now active on the field of service. Nearly 75 people have been called into full- time Christian service.
However, numbers only tell part of the story. The congregation has witnessed spiritual growth as well. This growth has been seen in stewardship, service, unity, and a sense of mission.
Dr. Mercer has served as the President of the Florida Baptist Convention, and is an active board member for a number of Southern Baptist agencies.
