The 30th Annual Creation Festival Ready To Begin June 25
Published: June 26, 2008
Dubbed the "Christian Woodstock," the 30th annual Creation Festival kicked off Wednesday with live music, teaching and a jam packed schedule of activities that will span over four days.
Thousands of believers, primarily young people, arrived at the Agape Farm campgrounds located in Mount Union, PA., for the annual music festival, where the dress code is "modesty" and where no alcoholic beverages and drugs are not allowed.
On several stages throughout the festival, some of today's most popular Christian music artists will perform. Artists like the Newsboys, Switchfoot, TobyMac, Hawk Nelson and Chris Tomlin, are just a few names that will perform. But organizers of Creation ’08 say the festival is much more than music.
“Creation is also about honoring the Word of God,” the organizers state on the festival Web site.
Every year, thousands attend the festival to hear messages that challenge and inspire them in their walk with Christ. This year's featured speaker is Rev. Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action, who intends to speak on the favor of life.
Schenck said he will give a pro-life message highlighting Psalm 139 and the recent hit movie “Juno,” a film about a pregnant 16-year-old who decides not to abort her baby after realizes the importance of life.
"Creation has always been a highlight for me," Schenck said of the festival. "Few places pack so much spiritual energy into such a compact period of time. The kids and adults who attend Creation get their spiritual batteries recharged while they also have a lot of fun. Hundreds will come to Christ, renew their Christian commitments and experience a deeper sense of calling on their lives,” he added.
This year’s Creation Festival is being held on June 25-28 and is expected to draw over 50,000 visitors.
“Hundreds of thousands of people have been spiritually enriched and made life-changing decisions for Christ and we give God all the glory,” according to the festival Web site. “The Creation Festival is all about changing lives and glorifying our Creator. Our prayer for at Creation '08 is that people will be changed, restored, and challenged to serve the Lord and to make a difference in this world.”
